Welcome to the 2011 - 2012 school yearSOUTHWESTERN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS BOOSTERS Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. The Southwestern High School sports boosters is a not for profit organization dedicated to raising money to keep and help fund the many sports programs at the high school. This year the school district has asked us to raise close to $20,000 dollars to help cover the cost of the various sports and team uniforms. As you know, due to budget cut backs and due to declining state assistance, many schools are eliminating sports programs from their curriculum. Our organization will strive to help maintain and keep our programs. Our organization also provides two annual college scholarships to graduating students. To be successful, our organization requires parent volunteers to help out (work) at a variety of events, including the concession stand at sporting events. With the approval of the school, the sports boosters will collect a $25 ransom fee prior to the beginning of each sport. Once the parent or student has worked four (4) hours, and then your ransom money will be refunded to you. Our goal is not to keep the money; rather our goal is to have workers for the concession stands and various fundraisers throughout the year. By having more workers, the same few parents will not have to work every event. We have many games/fundraisers that you will be able to work toward your four (4) hours. We will keep our website updated and list these events in the local paper so you will know what events are coming up. It is also very important that you fill out the information form attached so that we will be able to contact you. This is a great organization, but in order to keep it running smoothly and to help keep and maintain our sports programs, we need your help! It is also a great way to meet new parents while you are working at these events. We would love for parents to come to our monthly meetings and bring any new ideas to these meetings. We will post the meeting date/time on the website, Facebook, and in the SW journal. We hope you can come and be a part of the Southwestern Sports Boosters Organization. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Our email is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or find us on Facebook. Southwestern High School is located in Piasa Township, Illinois and is part of Southwestern Community Unit School District 9. With recent budget cuts all across the State, our school district's extracurricular programs are in serious jeopardy. The SHS Boosters are a group of concerned parents and others dedicated to ensuring that these programs remain a part of the activities available to our children. Our goal is to accomplish this through various fundraising events and community involvement. Studies have shown, that children provided a well a rounded program including both educational and extracurricular activities grow into well-rounded adults. Providing our children the opportunities needed to fulfill their eventual role as adutls in society, is something that should be of importance to everyone involve; not just parents, teachers and school administrators, but the entire greater community. We hope that you will return to this site often to find out how you can help. Please make sure you check back often because this site is a work in progress.
